Wheels For Noah

Please take a moment to visit Wheels For Noah.  An online auction is running there from now, through March 5.  Proceeds will go to benefit the family of a four year old boy with Mitochondrial Encephalomyopathy, whose name is Noah Estes.

Mito is an untreatable, debilitating, progressive, genetic disease, for which there is no cure.  Little Noah's disease now keeps him in a wheelchair, most of the time.  He is one of a family of ten.  They need to get a wheelchair accessible van, as the fifteen-passenger van that they now use, cannot be modified to accommodate a wheelchair, and fit all ten of his family members.

This family needs to raise approximately $20,000.  In addition to the online auction, there will be a fundraiser in Greenwood, SC on March 5.  Donations can be made online, or in person, to Noah's parents.  Further details can be found at Wheels For Noah.

This auction is chock full of really awesome stuff- I have been drooling over these items!  There really is something for everyone, there.  If you are in the market for a gift, or if you are simply in the mood to buy something for yourself, this is a definite "must-visit"!  Items listed include educational curricula, hot air balloon rides, a signed cook book from Pioneer Woman, and more!

If you do not want to buy anything, but do wish to donate money, that would be great!  Visit the Wheels For Noah donation page to make your contribution.

If you would like to help out Noah and his family, would you please spread the word about this auction?  Twitter, Facebook, blogs, e-mail to those whom you think might be interested, phone calls to friends and family- any and all of these are great mediums to use, to help out little Noah and his family!  If you would like to print out a flyer, or upload it to your blog or web site, you may find one at the auction internet resources page.  You will also find web site/blog badges there.  Please grab one, and upload it to your site!  It takes only a short time, and it would do so much good!

Thanks so much- your attention to this event is invaluable!

Awesome Auctions Announcement

Noah Estes is a little boy whose family needs your help.  He is the victim of a rare and debilitating disease, called mitochondrial encephalomyopathy.  He needs to be in a wheelchair, but his family does not have a vehicle that provides easy wheelchair access.  They really need to get one, but there is no way for them to afford it on their own.

There is good news, though.  You and I can help!

Noah's family will be holding two silent auctions in early March, the proceeds of which will go to help pay for the vehicle they need.  One auction will be in person, in Greenwood, SC.  The other will be online.  If you would like to participate, either as a buyer or as a contributor, detailed information can be found at the auction web site,  Wheels For Noah.

If you would like to get to know Noah and his family, they have a blog.  It is called Praying For Noah.  It really is an amazing read!

Please consider helping.  Thank you, and God bless!

Kids Say the Funniest Things

I usually post about free stuff, but this time it's about my own kids.

Yesterday, my boys, aged 6 and 9, filled out "political" papers.  On these, they were to write out what they would do, if elected into public office.  At the bottom, they signed their names above lines that read, "Your Elected Official".

This morning, I was reviewing the rules of the house with them.  I ended my lecture with, "I know that I can count on you to obey."  My 6 yos responded with, "Of course, you can, mom!  You can always trust your elected officials!"

Get Free Stuff Online

If you are like most of us who use the internet, you make use of at least one search engine.  If this describes you, why not make the most out of your searching?  Using the Swagbucks search engine not only gets you to the sites you are looking for, but also allows you to earn prizes!  You can use them in a variety of ways, such as books and toys for the kids, or goodies for yourself or your home.  A friend of mine mentioned this to me a while ago, and I'm so glad she did!

Be sure to visit the Swagbucks site and drool over all the cool stuff you could earn.  I should mention that you are not limited to online searches, to earn points.  Take surveys, watch quality television shows, or even send in your used books (you know, the ones that are cluttering up your living room and being used only when one of your kids wants to make a "book ladder" in order to reach something)!

Swagbucks is fun to use, it's been an easy way for me to earn stuff for my kids, and I'm thrilled to be able to use it!  I hope that you will enjoy it, too.

Free and Uncommon Educational Resources

Whether you homeschool your children or not, you are probably always on the lookout for cool educational materials for them.  I am happy to report that there is a site with a huge selection of public domain, historically significant material available for your use.  An Old Fashioned Education offers material covering subjects from language arts and mathematics, to etiquette and women's studies!  It is all free.  I have found this to be extremely useful, and hope that you will, as well.
